How is BodyTite different from liposuction? 10 BodyTite FAQs

Body contouring has come a long way, and BodyTite is proof. If you’re dealing with stubborn fat and skin laxity, this radiofrequency-assisted liposuction technique can tighten and sculpt your body in one procedure, with much less downtime than traditional surgery.

Curious if BodyTite is right for you? We’re answering your most common (and most important!) questions about this liposuction alternative available at Maningas Cosmetic Surgery.

1. How is BodyTite different from liposuction?

BodyTite combines fat removal with skin tightening in one procedure. While traditional liposuction effectively removes unwanted fat, it doesn’t address the loose or sagging skin that can be left behind, especially in areas with thinner skin or after weight loss.

BodyTite uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to melt fat and stimulate skin contraction simultaneously. The result is a smoother, more sculpted contour with firmer skin—and no need for surgical excision.

2. What areas can BodyTite treat?

BodyTite is ideal for small to medium-sized areas with both fat and mild-to-moderate skin laxity. Common treatment areas include:

  • Abdomen – Tighten your midsection after pregnancy or weight loss.
  • Flanks – Slim the waist and love handles.
  • Arms – Improve the appearance of “bat wings.”
  • Thighs – Contour and tighten inner or outer thighs.
  • Knees – Smooth lower thighs and above-knee skin.
  • Back/bra roll – Reduce bulges along the upper or lower back.
  • Chest (for men) – Treat gynecomastia with less downtime.

Many patients choose BodyTite to fine-tune areas where liposuction alone may fall short, especially in zones prone to skin laxity.

3. Is BodyTite considered surgery?

Technically, BodyTite is a minimally invasive procedure—not traditional surgery. It involves tiny incisions to insert the thin probe beneath the skin, but no general anesthesia or stitches are typically required.

At Maningas Cosmetic Surgery, BodyTite is performed by triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Talon Maningas under local anesthesia with light sedation. We make sure you are completely at ease and comfortable during the procedure, and most patients return home the same day.

In this video, Dr. Maningas shows the BodyTite device and explains how Radiofrequency-Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) works to provide precise, effective body contouring.

4. How does BodyTite compare to CoolSculpting?

BodyTite offers deeper, more precise fat removal and visible skin tightening in a single treatment—unlike CoolSculpting, which only targets fat. CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis (controlled cooling) to freeze fat cells externally, but it doesn’t address loose skin, and some patients require multiple rounds for optimal results.

In contrast, BodyTite allows us to sculpt fat internally while applying radiofrequency energy to tighten skin, all during one procedure. You’ll also see results faster and more dramatically with BodyTite, especially in areas like the arms, abdomen, and inner thighs, where skin firmness matters most.

5. How long do BodyTite results last?

BodyTite results are long-lasting, especially if you maintain a healthy weight. The fat removed is gone for good, and the skin-tightening effects improve over several months as collagen builds. Most patients see continued improvement for up to a year post-treatment.

6. Is BodyTite good for loose skin after liposuction?

Yes—BodyTite is one of the best options for tightening skin after lipo. It can also be done at the same time as liposuction to enhance both fat removal and skin firmness to give you a smoother, more refined result.

8. Who is a good candidate for BodyTite?

You may be a great candidate if you:

  • Are close to your goal weight
  • Have mild to moderate skin laxity
  • Have localized fat that won’t budge with diet/exercise
  • Want a less invasive option than surgery
  • Have realistic expectations for what the procedure can achieve

It’s important to understand that BodyTite will not provide the same results that surgery can deliver; rather, a noticeable change in the area treated. Patients can expect to see up to a 50% improvement, but results, of course, will vary per person.

9. Is BodyTite a weight loss procedure?

No, BodyTite is not intended for weight loss. It’s a body contouring tool designed to reshape and tighten areas where stubborn fat and loose skin remain. If you’re looking to reduce your overall weight or body fat percentage, a medical weight loss plan using GLP-1 injections may be a more appropriate first step. Once you’ve lost weight and are ready to target specific areas, BodyTite can be a great next move.

10. How soon will I see results from BodyTite?

You may see some improvement within the first few weeks, especially in contour and tightness. Results can continue to improve slowly over 12 months, with best results seen around 6 months post-procedure. Results are permanent as long as you practice healthy habits and maintain a stable weight.
